Hi, I am Walter Darius an agronomy student based in Haiti. You may be wondering why I chose agronomy as my career path.
I chose to pursue agronomy after careful consideration of Haiti's top priority. As we all know, Haiti faces significant
challenges in providing an adequate quantity and quality of food for its population. This critical issue motivated me to
get directly involved and take action. As the CEO of Magmedialive and a co-founder of REPA-HAITI, I am committed to
helping solve Haiti's food crisis.
Using my knowledge gained from university, I create videos on complex agricultural topics such as the importance of water for the earth, why we should protect and conserve it, and how to raise chickens, among others. Through my content, I aim to provide knowledge that assists others in producing food for themselves and their families. I offer this valuable information for free on the internet, in my native language, Creole, to facilitate better understanding.
Recognizing the technological challenges within Haitian agriculture, I decided to acquire cutting-edge skills in coding and web development. By utilizing my coding knowledge, I work towards solving the complex problems in the agricultural sector. As an example, I have built the website you are currently viewing. Additionally, I am developing an online store to connect sellers and buyers of agricultural items and tools. To facilitate money transfers, we will integrate the national app, Moncash. Furthermore, I am working on creating an online academy to facilitate Haitians in learning about agriculture.
As the founder of Magmedialive and co-founder of Repha-Haiti, I fulfill the role of a community manager, ensuring effective communication through these platforms. To avoid any communication issues, I employ my graphic design skills and also create graphics for the platforms myself.
I am part of the director general's team at Repa-Haiti (Reseau des Producteurs Agricoles Haitien), a platform aimed at connecting various stakeholders in the agricultural sector. I oversee the operations to ensure the platform's success.
Magmedialive is an agriculture-focused platform with four main objectives: to inform, innovate, sanitize, and educate the Haitian population about the vital importance of agriculture. They produce a significant amount of content, including videos and articles, addressing agricultural issues and showcasing the potential of agriculture in each region. In addition to being an agronomy student, I spend my free time engaging in various interests related to agriculture. I enjoy teaching others about concrete topics such as animal care and vegetable gardening through Magmedialive. Furthermore, I have a passion for practical skills and enjoy activities such as home electricity, minor plumbing, solar panel installation, and even repairing electronics like computers and cell phones. These hands-on experiences have broadened my understanding of different aspects related to agriculture and technology.
During my leisure time, I also immerse myself in coding YouTube channels and read articles about animals and vegetables. This allows me to stay up-to-date with the latest technological advancements and gain a deeper understanding of the intricate workings of nature.
